Did you know a jack tree can produce up to 100-200 fruits a year? Jackfruit is the largest tree-borne fruit and can weigh up to 80lb. Each jackfruit is actually a multiple fruit, composed of hundreds to thousands of individual flowers, and the fleshy meat is actually the petals of the flowers.
Kerala is the largest producer of jackfruit in the world. It is the national fruit of Bangladesh and Sri Lanka and the state fruit of the Indian states of Kerala and Tamil Nadu.
After the British brought tea production into India, many Indian spices were incorporated into tea. Masala means ‘a blend of spices’ and ‘chai’ simply means ‘tea’. So, Masala Chai is literally ‘spiced tea’. Chai Tea is a mislabeling meaning ‘Tea Tea’.

Cinnamon is a spice obtained from the inner bark of Cinnamomum trees. It is used widely, from savory dishes, baking goods to Greek cinnamon liqueur.
Periyar wildlife sanctuary is South India’s most popular wildlife sanctuary and it’s highest peak reaches 6,624 ft high. Periyar is near Thekkady and covers an area of 357 sq miles. The topography consists of steep and rolling hills which are thickly wooded. The sanctuary surrounds the man-made Periyar Lake, created by the British in 1895. It is the major watershed of two important rivers of Kerala, the Periyar and the Pamba.
