Punakha Dzong in Bhutan

Punakha Dzong is one of the largest monasteries in Bhutan and a famous tourist attraction. 3 sides of the dzong are surrounded by rivers.

Punakha has Bhutan’s longest pedestrian suspension bridge (Punakha Suspension Bridge) and is about 4.5 miles from Chimi Lhakhang, the Divine Madman’s fertility temple.
Punakha Dzong is located in a valley where 2 rivers (Pho Chhu –father and Mo Chhu – mother) meet. The Po Chhu River is fed by glaciers. Three sides of Punakha Dzong are surrounded by the rivers.
