This ethnic diversity can turn a short walk across town into what seems like hops from one country to another. Each of the original ethnic enclaves boasts a distinct flavor and neatly restored shophouses. At the core of Singapore’s downtown are historic public buildings and lofty cathedrals from the British colonial era. This modern city-state embraces nature-oriented attractions that make Singapore such a welcoming garden.
