    Meet Up at Kathmandu (KTM)

    Upon arrival in Kathmandu, you'll be met at the airport and transferred to your hotel.
    The remainder of the day is free to relax and enjoy the hotel or take a walk in the Gokarna Forest Resort.  Visit Gokarna Mahadev temple on the banks of the Bagmati River.  This Shiva temple was built in 1582.  Each year on Gokarna Aunsi Day (the new moon day around late August and early September), devotees come to this temple to bathe and make offerings in honor of their fathers, living or dead.

    Kathmandu | Mount Everest Flight, Boudhanath, Swayambhu

    Take off on your spectacular early morning with a sightseeing flight to see Mount Everest!  (If weather permits) After breakfast, visit Boudhanath which is one of the largest spherical stupas (akin to a mausoleum) in the world with a massive mandala.  Then, walk through the nearby settlements, browse the galleries of Tibetan art and snack on traditional momos (a type of South Asian dumpling).
    The Swayambhu complex is next. Swayambhu is probably the most sacred among Buddhist pilgrimage sites. For Tibetans and followers of Tibetan Buddhism, it is second only to Boudha.

    Kathmandu | Bhaktapur Durbar Square, Pashupatinath Temple, Cultural Dance Performance

    Today we drive to Bhaktapur (one of the 3 royal cities in the Kathmandu Valley), to learn about Buddhism and Hindu architecture. We will also visit Durbar (Royal) Square which is a UNESCO site.  No cars are allowed in Durbar Square making it a perfect place to stroll and soak in the ancient beauty.  Check out the 55 window Palace, Golden Gate, Royal Bath with its Golden Faucet, and the Big Bell.
    After lunch, visit Pashupatinath Temple which is one of the holiest Hindu temples dedicated to Lord Shiva.  Hindus from all over the world come here for a pilgrimage.  Many exotic carvings can be seen on its ornate wooden roof struts. Then by this evening, enjoy your farewell dinner and special cultural dance performance.

    • Mount Everest Sightseeing Flight is subject to weather conditions.  If the flight on Day 2 of the tour is canceled, it will be automatically rescheduled for Day 3.  If both days are canceled due to weather, TripCompanion will refund you the cost of the Mount Everest Sightseeing Flight.

    • A deposit of $500 per person is required upon booking and full payment to be made 70 days prior to departure date.
