    Upon arriving at Bandaranaike International Airport (CMB) in Colombo, be transferred to your hotel. The rest of the day is free.

    Colombo - Dambulla | Colombo City Tour, Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage

    Start with a half day walking tour of Colombo, then drive to Dambulla. Stop by the Minneriya National Park. The scenic Minneriya usually has 200 elephants in the park who make their way to the water reservoir at the center of the park to socialize, bathe and even find mates.

Anuradhapura is an ancient city founded in the 5th century BC, and home to the largest number of monuments of the great Sinhala civilization. Visit ancient royal palaces, shrines, dagobas and Sri Maha Bodhi (one the world’s oldest trees). Visit Ritigala Monastery on Ritigala Mountain.

    Dambulla | Sigiriya

    Today we visit a traditional Sri Lankan village and the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Sigiriya Rock, built by King Kassapa in the 5th century AD. Today Sigiriya Rock is a treasure trove of rare art. In a pocket of the giant rock are the famous frescoes of the heavenly maidens of Sigiriya. It is also called the ‘Rock Fortress’ or ‘the Lion Rock’ because of the huge crouching lion image that is carved at the entrance to the fortress.  This citadel rises more than 1,000 ft. from the jungles below. Enjoy a village tour with an authentic Sri Lanka lunch today.

    Dambulla - Kandy | Dambulla Rock Cave Temple, Spices of Kandy

    After breakfast, embark on your drive to Kandy.
    En route we visit the iconic Rock Cave Temple of Dambulla which dates to the first century BC, a UNESCO World Heritage site. The temple is a series of 5 caves filled with statues and paintings, including a 47 ft. long statue of Lord Buddha. This is the largest and best-preserved cave temple complex in Sri Lanka.
    Herbs and spices are tasty and yet healthy treats. Next, we will find ourselves at a spice plantation in which you will find cocoa, vanilla, cinnamon, coffee and more!

    Kandy | Kandy City Tour, Temple of the Tooth Relic, Cooking Demo

    After breakfast, explore Kandy City and visit the Temple of Tooth Relic of Buddha, located in the royal palace complex which houses the relic of the tooth of Buddha and one of Sri Lanka’s 8 UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Since ancient times the relic has played an important role in local politics because it is believed that whoever holds the relic holds the governance of the country. This afternoon we relax and enjoy Sri Lankan style tapas at the venerable Royal Bar. We end today with a cooking demonstration.
