🛏️ 2 Nights in Lisbon
DAY 1: LISBON (LIS)
Welcome to Portugal! Your driver will meet you at the airport for a transfer to your hotel. The remainder of the day is free.
Lisbon is one of the oldest capitals in Europe with a sea of pastel pinks, yellows and blues dotting the seven hills of this romantic Portuguese capital.

DAY 2: SINTRA DAY TOUR
Depart for Sintra, a magical town known for its fairy-tale palaces, castles, and gardens.
Visit the Palace of Sintra (entrance included) and walk through this charming village. Enjoy an amazing view from the westernmost point of mainland Europe (Cabo da Roca). Along the coast, we pass by one of the most famous surfing beaches, the incredible Hells Mouth. Visit the cosmopolitan Cascais and the gardens of Estoril Casino before returning to Lisbon.

🛏️ 1 Night in Fatima
DAY 3: ÓBIDOS, ALCOBAÇA, NAZARÉ, FÁTIMA TOUR
Driving through a landscape of old windmills and fruit trees, we arrive in Obidos (a lovely medieval town) surrounded by medieval walls where we can admire the harmony of the architecture, the diversity of the handicrafts and taste of the famous ginjinha (bitter cherry liqueur) (included). Visit Alcobaca with the first and largest gothic church in Portugal and the tombs of the doomed lovers Pedro and Ines de Castro. Stop in Nazare, a typical fishing village and seaside resort immersed in traditions and legends. We continue to Fatima and the famous Marian Shrine. There is the opportunity watch the candle procession.

🛏️ 3 Nights in Porto
DAY 4: COIMBRA, AVEIRO, PORTO TOUR
Checkout and depart for Coimbra which was once the capital of Portugal. Its fascinating history dates back to the Roman times and includes periods of Moorish, Christian, and Jewish influences.
Visit the University (entrance included, subject to availability) which is one of the oldest in the world, with its magnificent baroque library and its unique atmosphere characterized by ancient traditions and customs such as the black student capes and melancholic fado music. Stop at St Clara Church (entrance included), where lies the tomb of Queen St. Isabel, the protagonist of the “miracle of the roses”. In the city center, you can admire the exclusive ceramic of Coimbra. In the afternoon we continue to Aveiro, a city of canals and known as the “Venice of Portugal” where you can see the brightly-painted flat-bottomed moliceiros boats (not included) and taste the local sweets “ovos moles”, soft-egg-yolk pastry (not included).
We arrive in Porto.

DAY 5: PORTO, GUIMARÃES, BRAGA, PORTO TOUR
Porto is the second largest city of Portugal and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It is a living amphitheater where we can discover the riverside area, old houses, palaces and churches that history has made eternal. And port wine that is known worldwide. We continue to Minho, the northwest region of Portugal that offers natural green sceneries and sparkling “green wine”. Guimaraes is considered the cradle of the nation and birthplace of the first king of Portugal. Walk through the historic center, and for moments one is plunged back into medieval times. Visit the Sacred Hill crowned by the Castle (entrance included), as well the Palace of the Dukes of Braganca (entrance included) whose original building dates back to the 15th century. Drive to Braga, known as the “Portuguese Rome” for its concentration of religious architecture and the Bom Jesus do Monte Sanctuary (entrance included) with its famous baroque stairway and gardens. Return to Porto.

DAY 6: SANTIAGO DE COMPOSTELA TOUR
We drive to Spain to visit famous Santiago De Compostela, the capital of Galicia and the center of pilgrimage at the end of the arduous Camino de Santiago or Way of St James. It is also a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage Site.
You have the day to freely discover this fascinating city. Wander its historical streets and learn about its most extraordinary monuments before sampling some of the traditional local dishes. Return to Porto.

🛏️ 1 Night in Urgeirica
DAY 7: AMARANTE, VILA REAL, DOURO VALLEY, LAMEGO, URGEIRIÇA TOUR
Checkout and depart for Amarante. Sao Goncalo, the patron saint of Amarante, was known for the promotion of love and marriage. The river facing monastery houses his tomb. The town has a lively, bustling market where you can find fruit, vegetables, chickens, cloths and an immense variety of other popular items. Next we drive to Vila Real and visit the gardens of the manor of Mateus (entrance included), whose facade is still depicted on the well-known Portuguese rose wine bottles. Then we enter the port wine region, travelling through the vineyards and the breathtaking landscapes of the Douro Valley. Lamego has one of Portugal’s most important shrines Nossa Senhora dos Remedios (Our Lady of Remedies) with its magnificent baroque style staircase. You can try some of the local delicacies such as the local ham or the famous “Bola de Lamego” (a loaf baked in the oven with smoked ham) (not included). Continue through the mountainous hinterland to Viseu, center of the Dao region vineyards and a city connected with Portugal’s oldest hero, Viriato, the Lusitanian chief. We finally arrive in Urgeirica.

DAY 8: URGEIRIÇA, BUSSACO, TOMAR, ÉVORA TOUR
Breakfast at the hotel.
Drive through the heart of Portugal to Bussaco, well known for its luxuriant forest and a charming and romantic hotel, formerly a royal hunting lodge. We continue to Tomar, a city whose development is closely linked with the Order of the Templars which received these lands in 1159 as a reward for the assistance they gave to Dom Afonso Henriques (the first King of Portugal) in the Christian reconquest of the territory. It was Dom Gualdim Pais, the first Grand Master of the Order in Portugal, who founded the castle and the remarkable Convent of Christ inside. Enlarged and altered over the centuries,
it retains the influences of various architectural styles. It is the centerpiece of the city and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Our drive continues to Évora.

DAY 9: EVORA
We spend the day discovering the town of Evora, a mosaic of culture, history and traditions. In the narrow streets of this whitewashed town we traverse through history visiting some of Evora’s most important monuments: the Roman Temple, the Romanesque – Gothic Cathedral (entrance included), Saint Francis Church with its Chapel of Bones (entrance included) and the University. At the market we see and feel the richness of the products used to prepare one of the most elaborate and appreciated gastronomies of Portugal. Throughout the visit, we also admire the diversity of local cork, ceramic and copper handicrafts. In the afternoon there is free time for more exploration.

🛏️ 2 Nights in Lagos
DAY 10: BEJA, SILVES, LAGOS
After breakfast there is some time at leisure before checking out of the hotel.
We drive southward passing Beja where a towering medieval castle dominates the town and the region. Crossing small mountains we enter the Algarve. Passing by fields of orange trees, we arrive at Silves, the renowned town dominated by its red sandstone castle dating back to Moorish times. We pass by Praia da Rocha to golden sands of Lagos.

DAY 11: PONTA DA PIEDADE, SAGRES, CABO DE SÃO VICENTE, LAGOS TOUR
Many voyages of discovery departed from the Algarve. Visit Ponta Da Piedade (Piety Point) and admire the magnificent views over the Atlantic Ocean, and the cliffs whose shapes have been sculpted by the erosive action of both the sea and time. Sagres is a fishing port with a fortress that was said to be a navigation school linked to Prince Henry the Navigator during the first days of Atlantic navigation and the discovery of the African coast. The cliffs of Cabo Sao Vicente are the most southwestern point in mainland Europe. Lagos is a cosmopolitan town with a marina and fishing port where you can taste the delicious Algarve dishes such as fish and shellfish cooked in a copper pan (cataplana) (not included). Don’t forget to try the fine sweets such as the famous marzipan, almond and fig cakes. Return to the hotel for an afternoon at leisure and a dip in the warm sea.

Day 12: SETÚBAL, SERRA DA ARRÁBIDA, LISBON
The return trip to Lisbon takes you by the city of Setubal, a major port and industrial center on the north bank of the Sado estuary. We take a scenic route over the Arrabida mountain range, an area preserved as a Natural Park, with amazing scenery and unique vegetation. Enjoy the views of the Troia Peninsula before crossing the bridge over the Tagus River to Lisbon.

DAY 13: END OF TOUR
After breakfast, transfer to Lisbon International Airport (LIS) for your flight home to the USA or Canada.
