Kathakali Dance

Kathakali is traditionally performed by male actor-dancers, with elaborate and colorful make-up, costumes and face masks. Kathakali primarily developed as a Hindu performance art in the Malayalam-speaking southwestern region of India. A Kathakali performance synthesizes music, vocal performers, choreography and hand and facial gestures all together to express ideas.
